1. Choose your Door Design

The first thing you need to do to get your new custom made wardrobe doors underway is to decide on the style.

  • Do I want a design on the doors?
  • Do I want mirrored doors or doors with white glass inserted?

Scroll through the options available by hovering over the thumbnails below. Click on any of images to view the range. Door designs within a range are all the same price, depending on size. Mirror or glass is additional. When you are ready for a quote, you can either download a digital form (PDF) or go to our online Quote Page and fill in the data directly on the website.

2. Choose your Door Layout

3. Choose between Sliding or Hinged Wardrobe Door

Sliding Doors

If you prefer sliding doors, you can order them as plain doors, with one or more designs on their face or as mirror or glass framed doors. We can fit mirror, white (with a greenish tinge) or superwhite glass.

We can route either a left or right or double handle recesses into the doors and supply polished chrome finish inserts at $16.50 each. Alternatively we can route a “paintable handle”, where no handle inserts are needed. TIP: Sliding doors usually are 20mm wider each, to allow for overlap of doors and 55mm shorter than the opening to allow for the height of the tracks. Double check the measurements for your own installation requirements.

Track Kits for Sliding Doors

We can supply full track kits for sliding wardrobe doors including top and bottom tracks with wheels and head guides

  • $176 per Double Track (up to 3700mm long)
  • $220 per Double Track (3700mm to 4800mm long)
  • $330 per Triple Track (up to 4800mm long)

Tracks can be ordered in various metallic finishes or powder coated colours.

Hinged Doors

If you would like hinged wardrobe doors, we can the drill hinge holes and supply BLUM soft closing hinges at $9.21 each or standard hinges at $8.58 each. As they are quite heavy, we recommend 5 hinges per wardrobe door. If you are supplying your own hinges, we can drill hinge holes in the Blum or Hettich hinge hole pattern. If you are supplying the hinges, we will also require the measurements of the hinge hole positions. Measurements are not required if we are supplying new hinges.

Angled Top Doors

If you have doors that are under a staircase or sloping ceiling, we can supply angled top doors. You will need to supply the height of both left and right sides of each door and also consider the gap between each door.

Other Hinged Door Options
  • Hinge types
  • Use your own hinges
  • Hinge drilling template
  • Handles

4. Choose your Door Thickness

18mm or 25mm

The standard wardrobe door thickness is 18mm. For a more solid door, you may request 25mm thickness at additional cost. Sliding doors in 25mm thickness have less gaps between them. 25mm doors also require wheel cut outs to the back of each door. Wheels are supplied as part of the track kit if ordered. The door base material is Australian made, moisture resistant E0 medium density fibre board (MDF) which is spray painted in polyurethane.

Wardrobe Door Edges

“Door edges” refers to the shape of the edges around the perimeter of the door. The standard edges for wardrobe doors are 3mm pencil edges. This edge type is included free in the cost of the door. Other edge types are available at additional cost.

5. Choose your Paint Colour and Finish

Your choice of colours is virtually unlimited as you can choose from any of the major Australian paint brands such as Dulux, Taubmans, British Paints or Wattyl to perfectly match your interiors. Simply visit your local paint or hardware store and advise us of the brand and colour or code. Alternatively, you can choose white, which is our only standard colour. There is a one off $99 fee per custom colour.

Next you can choose the finish of your doors; satin, matt, semi or high gloss. The satin finish is currently the most popular, being easy to clean and it doesn’t show finger marks as much as gloss does. Even if you’re not sure of your colour yet, you can get a quote from us to see how much you can save by going straight to the manufacturer for new doors. Note that if you choose a dark colour or a gloss finish, any minor imperfections in the surface will be highlighted. Sydney Doors does not consider this a fault.

Polyurethane Paint

Polyurethane is the most popular and hard wearing paint finish for kitchen doors. It is durable and easy to care for, needing just a wipe over with a soft, damp cloth moistened in warm, soapy water. Never use any scouring sponges or abrasive cleaners as these will damage the surface. The paint is applied (sprayed) onto the face and all 4 edges of the doors and panels unless otherwise requested.

Painting end panels

The painting of end panels is often a little different to the painting of doors because, in addition to the front of the panel being visible, some or all of the back, may be visible and need to be painted. If so, you will need to specify this in your order. You can choose either a 100mm strip painted on the left, right, top and/or bottom of the back, or the full back and front painted.
