Your choice of colours is virtually unlimited as you can choose from any of the major Australian paint brands such as Dulux, Taubmans, Wattyl etc to perfectly match your interiors. Simply visit your local paint or hardware store and advise us of the brand and colour or code. Alternatively, you can choose white, which is our only standard colour. There is a one off $99 fee per custom colour.
Next you can choose the finish of your doors, from satin, matt or high gloss. Satin is currently the most popular finish. It is easy to clean and doesn’t show finger marks as much as gloss does. Even if you’re not sure of your colour yet, you can get a quote from us to see how much you can save by going straight to the manufacturer for new doors. Note that if you choose a dark colour or a gloss finish, any minor imperfections in the surface will be highlighted. Sydney Doors does not consider this a fault.
Polyurethane Finish
Polyurethane is the most popular and hard wearing paint finish for wardrobe doors. It is durable and easy to care for, needing just a wipe over with a soft, damp cloth moistened in warm, soapy water. Never use any scouring sponges or abrasive cleaners as these will damage the surface. The paint is sprayed onto the face and all 4 edges of the doors and panels unless otherwise requested.
Painting End Panels
The painting of end panels is often a little different to the painting of doors because, in addition to the front of the panel being visible, some or all of the back, may be visible and may need to be painted. If so, you will need to specify this in your order. You can choose either a 100mm strip painted on the left or right side of the back (or both), or the full back and front painted.
For Trade Professionals and DIY – Unpainted Doors
Doors may be ordered in 18 or 21mm single sided or raw both sides if you are hand painting them. If they are raw both sides, both the face and back of the doors must be painted to prevent bowing. The choice of raw or single sided MDF must be specified when ordering otherwise double sided white satin material will be used. Doors and panels supplied unpainted in the white satin base material are meant to be finished in a professionally prepared 2-pack polyurethane or similar coating system. Water based paints do not tend to bond easily to melamine surface and as such, the use of acrylic or domestic oil based paint is not recommended. Unpainted doors will be ready for delivery or collection in approx. 5 working days and painted doors in approx. 25 working days.
